    Roofing and Cabinetry

    Tips:

    • If you have a problem with moss growing on your wooden roof, attach a zinc strip to the edge of the roof ridge. Rainwater passing over the zinc will wash down and inhibit the mosses growth.

    • Lightning follows the path of least resistance; therefore it is more likely not to strike in the same place twice!

    • The best time to replace roofing shingles is early in the hot months as the sun's heat will soften the shingles and the tar that holds them together.

    • Power saw cords can be dangerous when they catch on the edge of your work, and reaching can be even worse. Whenever possible, lay a sacrificial board on the floor and cut your sheet materials on it. Be sure to set your cutting depth only slightly deeper than your work piece.

    • NEVER use scouring powder or other abrasives on cabinets as they will damage the finish!

    • If your level always seems to slide around when you need it still, try wrapping the ends with rubber bands. You'll be able to hold it steady with one hand while you mark with the other.
